HL Deb 08 February 1972 vol 327 c1127WA
VISCOUNT MONCK

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What was the cost of answering the questions of the twelve Peers who asked most Starred Questions in 1971, stating separately the name of each such Peer and the cost attributable to the Answers to his Questions, based on the average cost of providing the Answer to a Starred Question in 1971.

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (EARL JELLICOE)

The following noble Lords asked the most Starred Questions in 1971:

Peer No. of Questions
Lord Brockway 40
Baroness Burton of Coventry 23
Lord Kennet 23
Lord Shinwell 22
Earl of Lauderdale 15
Lord Beswick 12
Lord Garnsworthy 12
Baroness Wootton of Abinger 12
Lord Merrivale 10
Lord Segal 10
Lord Brown 9
Lord Clifford of Chudleigh 9
Lord Fraser of Lonsdale 9

The cost of answering the rest of the noble Lord's question would not in my view be justified by the usefulness of the information.
