How much money was available for exhibitions under the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department of Trade and Industry Votes respectively in the financial years 1970–71 and 1971–72; and whether they will publish a list of the exhibitions on which they spent sums in excess of £10,000, showing in each case the sum so spent or allocated.
§ THE MINISTER WITHOUT PORTFOLIO (LORD DRUMALBYN)The total amount of money available for exhibitions under the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Vote in the financial year 1970–71 was £98,000, excluding exceptional expenditure of £975,000 for the completion of the United Kingdom Pavilion at the Osaka World Fair in 1970. The amount allocated under the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Vote for 1971–72 is £152,000. In the same two financial years, the amount of money made available for exhibitions under the Department of Trade and Industry's Vote was £4,393,000 and £4,824,000 respectively.
While it is not Her Majesty's Government's practice to publish details of expenditure on particular exhibitions, the number of events costing £10,000 or more which each Department has supported or is proposing to support is as follows:
