§ Mr. Johnasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he has called for or received any estimate from the airlines of the losses which they will suffer as a result of the statutory freeze; and whether, in view of the position, he will initiate discussions with them as to ways in which their revenue loss should be made good.
§ Mr. OnslowThe answer to both parts of the Question is "No". It is open to airlines, as it is to any other commercial concern, to seek an exemption from the standstill under Section 2(7) of the Counter-Inflation (Temporary Provisions) Act 1972.
