HC Deb 04 December 1972 vol 847 c292W
55. Mr. Mason

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, in view of the fact that 36 British European Airways pilots who have not completed their full training are flying in co-pilot seats in Trident aircraft, and that stall recovery procedures in Trident training need change, if he will, within his powers for air safety, make a statement to reassure the public that alterations in training have now been effected and that only fully trained pilots will occupy the pilot and co-pilot seats.

Mr. Onslow

I have consulted with the Civil Aviation Authority and I have no reason to believe that any BEA pilot is engaged on flying duties for which he has not been properly trained. BEA has introduced additional stall training which is being given progressively to all its Trident pilots.
