HC Deb 04 December 1972 vol 847 c328W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what training is given to members of the fire service and of the police to recognise parthion and kindred manufactured poisons and fumigants.

Mr. Lane

Instruction in the recognition of dangerous substances, including parathion, forms an integral part of fire service training. It is based on advice given in the Home Office Manual of Fireman-ship, which describes these substances and the precautions to be taken when dealing with them. Specific training of this kind is not given to police officers.
