§ Mr. Luceasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on progress in the dispute between the Argentine and Chile over the Islands of Lennox, Picton and Minerva in the Beagle Channel, in which Her Majesty's Government have been asked to mediate.
§ Mr. KershawIn accordance with an agreement between the United Kingdom Government, the Government of the Republic of Argentina, and the Government of the Republic of Chile, dated 22nd July, 1971, Her Majesty's Government appointed a Court of Arbitration for the purposes of this dispute. The case is stillsub judice before that court.
