HC Deb 30 November 1971 vol 827 cc87-8W
Mr. Peter Mills

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals he has to allow local authorities, in view of the employment position in the South-West, to go ahead with their small capital-spending proposals such as to start on school extensions, minor road works, better sewerage and improved lighting; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Walker

I have already given local authorities in the development and intermediate areas in the South-West authority to include in the special infrastructure works programme a large number of schemes of this type. I would be prepared to consider any further schemes satisfying the conditions of the programme.
