HC Deb 30 November 1971 vol 827 c87W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what official or other publications are available to the general public which describe the purposes, procedure and practices of planning inquiries conducted by his inspectors.

Mr. Graham Page

The most convenient source of reference material for the layman about planning appeal inquiries is probably the booklet "Planning Appeals, a Guide to Procedure 1969". A copy of this is sent automatically to anyone who asks the Department for the ordinary planning appeal form.

Most planning inquiries are governed by statutory rules of procedure: for planning applications and appeals decided by the Secretary of State, the Town and Country Planning (Inquiries Procedure) Rules, 1969, S.I., 1969, No. 1092; for planning appeals decided by an inspector, the Town and Country Planning Appeals (Determination by Appointed Persons) (Inquiries Procedure) Rules, 1968, S.I., 1968, No. 1952; published by H.M.S.O., priced 9p each.
