HC Deb 25 May 1971 vol 818 cc71-2W
Mr. Iremonger

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what research is in hand or proposed into the problems of extra expense incurred by disabled persons.

Mr. Alison

In view of the fact that we have only just received the report of the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys on "The Handicapped and Impaired in Great Britain", and in view of the substantially improved national insurance provision for the disabled, both through the chronic sick package and the attendance allowance, we do not consider that this is an appropriate time for launching further research in this field.
