HC Deb 04 May 1971 vol 816 c328W
Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much money in grants or loans the Highlands and Islands Development Board and the Scottish Tourist Board have given annually to holders of premises licensed for the sale of alcohol.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

In the five years from 1966 to 1970 the Highlands and Islands Development Board made grants averaging £151,194 a year and loans averaging £118,178 a year to holders of premises which were licensed either at the time or subsequently.

In 1970, the only full year of the Hotel Development Incentives Scheme, the Scottish Tourist Board paid £109,586 in grants to hotels: no analysis of this amount distinguishing between licensed and unlicensed premises is immediately available.
