HC Deb 19 March 1971 vol 813 c411W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement on the reopening of the offices of the British Mission in Peking and the attendance of Chinese diplomats at the function; and how much of the cost of the rebuilding of the Mission was paid by the Government of the People's Republic of China.

Mr. Kershaw

A reception was held at the British Office in Peking on 24th February to mark its reopening. Senior Chinese officials attended. Their presence was another indication of the continued improvement in our relations. The Chinese Government have indicated that they will bear the cost of the rebuilding.
