HC Deb 19 March 1971 vol 813 c418W
Mr. Fernyhough

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services in how many cases during 1970, after benefit had originally been disallowed by the insurance officer, the latter, after receiving the applicant's evidence in respect of his appeal, decided that the claim should be allowed without it going to the local tribunal.

Mr. Dean

I regret that this information is not available. It is, however, normal practice for insurance officers to revise their decisions when further information in claimants' appeals enables benefit to be awarded to the full extent claimed leaving nothing in dispute.
