Percentage rates of unemployment can be calculated for males of all ages, but not for men aged 18 and over alone.

Mr. Strang

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of the total number of adult males unemployed in the United Kingdom in January, 1971 was resident in Scotland; and what was the corresponding percentage in January, 1963.

Mr. Dudley Smith

At January, 1971, of all men aged 18 and over registered as unemployed in the United Kingdom, 14.8 per cent. were registered in Scotland. The corresponding figure for January, 1963 was 14.1 per cent.
