HC Deb 16 March 1971 vol 813 c280W
Dr. Stuttaford

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, in view of the difficulty old-age pensioners have in respect to the buying of clothes, he will take into consideration the cost of clothing when reviewing the old-age pension.

Mr. Dean

Yes. The cost of clothing is taken into account in the Retail Price Indices, on which we base our estimates of the purchasing value of pensions.
