HC Deb 16 March 1971 vol 813 c295W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he proposes to make representations to the European Economic Community against increases in its internal producer prices for agricultural products, in view of the adverse effects of such increased costs on the United Kingdom balance of payments in the event of the United Kingdom joining the European Economic Community.

Mr. Godber

No. The Six are entitled to settle for themselves the price structure under the Common Agricultural Policy for the existing Community. We will of course take into account in the negotiations generally the effect of any price changes the Community may agree upon.
