Mr. David Clark

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science (1) if she will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT the amount spent on major secondary school building programmes in each of the last 10 years, and how many schools were built in each of these years;

(2) if she will list in the OFFICIAL REPORT the amount spent on the major secondary school building programme in the West Riding for each of the last 10 years, and how many secondary schools were built in each of these years.

Records of amounts spent do not distinguish between secondary and primary schools. The following table of the value of work started in each year provides the most nearly equivalent information:
