§ Mr. Dudley SmithMy Department, as was the case under the previous Administration, has no way of supplying a complete record of jobs provided and jobs lost. 8,800 jobs are reported to be in prospect in the Yorkshire coalfield intermediate area over the next four years in authorised new industrial buildings and existing buildings taken over by manufacturing firms. This figure does not include jobs which will arise from expansion by firms in their existing premises or new jobs in the service sector. It is not possible to say how many of the jobs reported to be in prospect will arise by 1972.
