Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT details giving the grade and salary scale of any Civil Service Private Secretary to a Minister or Deputy Minister, capable of undertaking shorthand typing, and her salary scale in October, 1964, and what this person received on 1st March, 1971.

Staff undertaking these duties would normally be members of the Personal Secretary grade. As this grade was not introduced until 1st January, 1965, I am giving the salary scales at 1st January, 1965, and 1st March, 1971.
