HC Deb 10 March 1971 vol 813 c102W
63. Mr. H. Boardman

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many local authorities have been granted powers by Parliament to use local authority superannuation funds for the acquisition, development or management of land within their own boundaries.

Mr. Graham Page

Apart from their general powers under the Local Government Superannuation Act, 1937, 69 authorities have local Act powers enabling direct investment by their superannuation funds in the acquisition, development and management of land within their own areas. Ten other authorities have similar powers in relation to land otherwise than in their own area.
