HC Deb 09 March 1971 vol 813 c90W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science by what criteria the Government propose not to charge admission to the British Museum Library while intending to charge admission to all the other educational facilities of the museum.

Mr. van Straubenzee

The detailed arrangements for charging for admission to the national museums and galleries are still under consideration. It has nevertheless been decided that the principle of free admission which, under the Public Libraries and Museums Act, 1964, applies to public libraries provided by local authorities ought also to apply to the British Museum Library.
