asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is the annual rate of increase of pupils in school in Leicestershire now compared with the figure for 10 years earlier.

The number of pupils in maintained primary and secondary schools in Leicestershire rose by 2.2 per cent. between 1960 and 1961 and by 4.7 per cent. between 1969 and 1970.
