HC Deb 04 March 1971 vol 812 cc494-5W
30. Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what advice her Department gives to local education authorities regarding the teaching of knowledge about fresh foods; and if she will instruct her inspectorate to advise domestic science teachers on ways of interpreting the date stamping or codes on convenience and pre-packed foods.

Mrs. Thatcher

The first part of the Question raises a curricular matter which is properly left to schools and colleges. The answer to the second part is "No"; the subject of date marking is being considered under arrangements for which my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is responsible.
