Mr. Skeetasked the Minister of State for Defence how many Victoria Cross holders who are still living had their awards for valour conferred in World War I and World War II, respectively; what is the annual payment of pension paid to each man; when the annual pension was last revised; and by what figure it has increased in the past 10 years.
§ Lord BalnielThe numbers are 67 and 47 respectively, excluding those who won the award while serving in Commonwealth Forces. Each receives a tax-free annuity of £100. Those who were other ranks at the time of their award also receive a small addition to their Service pensions.
The annuity was last increased in 1959.
