§ Lord BalnielI am not aware of any shortcomings in the present arrangements for ensuring the security and confidentiality of both computer and manual files of personal information in my Department. However, as the hon. Member knows, the Government will consider further appropriate safeguards once the inter-departmental group, led by the Home Office, has completed its survey of the categories of personal information held in computer systems of Government Departments.
