§ Dame Joan Vickersasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether Her Majesty's Government accept Resolution No. 468 on the International Year for action to combat racism and racial discrimination (1971) which was adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 21st January, 1971; and whether, having ratified the International Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination, they will take steps to establish a board or a commission as agreed to in paragraph 8(b) of this resolution.
§ Mr. SharplesHer Majesty's Government accept the resolution to which my hon. Friend refers. The bodies mentioned in paragraph 8 of the resolution were already established in the United Kingdom prior to our ratification of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination in March, 1969.
