HL Deb 29 July 1971 vol 323 c789WA
BARONESS MASHAM OF ILTON

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will take steps to ensure that the funds made available by them for the implementation of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act have been allocated by the local authorities to their social service departments.

LORD ABERDARE

No funds are allocated to local authorities specifically for implementing Section 2 of the Act—which I assume the noble Baroness has in mind—though the latest Rate Support Grant Order as a whole allowed for an appreciable growth, this year and next, in services for the chronically sick and disabled. My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Social Services will shortly be giving local authorities further advice on the development of these services.
