HC Deb 06 July 1971 vol 820 cc349-50W
Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Lord President of the Council why the gift by an hon. Member of two barrels of Carlisle beer was declined by the Kitchen and Refreshment Department.

Dr. Bennett

I have been asked to reply.

The Refreshment Department did not feel entitled to take delivery of the two barrels of Carlisle beer while they were unaware of the identity of the donor, who was not an hon. Member. The donor eventually presented them to the Press Gallery where they are being sold and the proceeds given to charity.
