§ LORD TREFGARNEasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether membership of the Common Market will affect the Multilateral Agreement on non-scheduled Air Services.
§ LORD DRUMALBYNThe Multilateral Agreement on Commercial Rights of Non-Scheduled Air Services in Europe, signed in Paris in 1956, is an international treaty to which the United Kingdom is a party. There is provision in Article 8 for the denunciation of the Agreement by contracting parties, but there appears to be no incompatibility between the Agreement and either the Treaty of Rome or the aviation policies of existing 793WA E.E.C. members, and United Kingdom membership of the European Economic Community would seem unlikely to have any implications for continued United Kingdom adherence to the Agreement. All the present members of the E.E.C. 794WA (with the exception of Italy) are also paroles to the Multilateral Agreement.
House adjourned at eighteen minutes before eleven o'clock.
