asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a statement about the progress of his discussions with local authorities and other interested bodies on the possibility of an improved scheme for the legal enforcement of the maximum resale prices of both gas and electricity.

These discussions have disclosed a number of practical difficulties, but I am hopeful that it will be possible to settle on an improved scheme.
