HC Deb 04 February 1971 vol 810 c457W
Mr. Cormack

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many listed buildings have been demolished during motorway construction since 1960; and how many parks by the great 18th Century landscape gardeners have been encroached upon by motorways or other new roads.

Mr. Michael Heseltine

I regret that this information is not available and to obtain it would be disproportionately expensive. This would involve detailed study of all previous road schemes since specific consent has not been required over the period for encroachment on parkland or statutorily listed buildings.
