HC Deb 04 February 1971 vol 810 cc457-8W
Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he proposes to take in co-operation with the local highways authorities to implement the recommendations of the Marshall Committee on Highway Maintenance; and whether, in particular, he intends to appoint a Continuing Committee representative of his Department and the local highway authorities to foster progress.

Mr. Graham Page

The continuing Committee to which my hon. Friend refers was set up and first met last November. Its initial task is to advise my right hon. Friend and the Secretaries of State for Scotland and Wales and the local authority associations as to which of the recommendations should be adopted and how these might best be implemented expeditiously.
