Mr. Dudley Smith

At 11th January, 1971, there were 2,450 males registered as unemployed in the area covered by the Blackpool Employment Exchange: 2,422 were wholly unemployed of whom 10 were 65 years of age and over and 474 were under 25 years.

Mr. Miscampbell

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what sources of employment have moved to the Blackpool area in the last two years; and how many new jobs have been created.

Mr. Dudley Smith

I am aware of 15 establishments which have opened in the Blackpool travel-to-work area during 1969 and 1970. When the position was last reviewed in August it was estimated that these establishments employed some 470 workers.
