HC Deb 02 February 1971 vol 810 c323W
Mr. Jopling

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the fact that a number of persons in rural areas read only weekly newspapers, he will advise the Decimal Currency Board to reconsider their decision not to advertise in such newspapers.

Mr. Higgins

I understand that the Decimal Currency Board's researches indicate that the main facts about the change-over to decimal currency are becoming widely known. These suggest that the extensive coverage of decimal currency matters in the Press and on radio, television and posters is sufficient and that expenditure on advertising in local weekly newspapers is not necessary.
