HC Deb 05 August 1971 vol 822 c391W
Mr. Pendry

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what measures his Department is contemplating to alleviate the problems experienced by the record number of school leavers in Stalybridge and Hyde this summer who are without immediate prospect of finding employment.

Mr. Bryan

It is estimated that there were about 800 summer school leavers in the Stalybridge and Hyde area and of these it is known that 360 have already obtained employment. Careers officers are doing everything possible to help the remainder and I am hopeful that they will find jobs without too much delay.
