§ Mr. SharplesThe Joint Negotiating Committee for the Probation Service met again on 29th July and negotiations are continuing. It is the Government's policy to expand the strength of the probation service.

§ Mr. CarlisleMy right hon. Friend continues to receive representations about probation service pay and he has this week again met representatives of both sides of the Joint Negotiating Committee. He understands and shares the general desire for an early settlement of the current negotiations.
