asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he intends to consult the Northern Ireland Government about the adequacy of their powers to meet future emergency responsibilities; and whether he will make a statement.

There is continuos consultation between the two Governments.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in view of the injuries inflicted on nine members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary by a Roman Catholic crowd on or around Sunday, 25th July, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, what steps he now proposes to take to ensure that the police in Northern Ireland have proper protection in carrying out the Queen's Writ.
