asked the Prime Minister what are the respective responsibilities of the Secretary of State for the Environment and the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food with regard to land drainage matters.

The Prime Minister

As far as central Government is concerned, responsibility for land drainage matters in England and Wales rests with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and in Scotland with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland.
