HC Deb 05 August 1971 vol 822 c423W
Mr. Bob Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) how many dentists per 10,000 of the population there are in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, in Newburn urban district, in the Northern Region and in the South-East Region and West Midlands;

(2) how many doctors per 10,000 of the population there are in Newcastle-upon- Tyne, Newburn urban district, in the Northern Region and in the South-East Region and West Midlands.

Mr. Alison

The figures are as follows:

Dentists Doctors
Newcastle-upon-Tyne about 2.2 about 4.4*
Newburn Urban District about 2.3 about 3.0*
Northern Region about 1.6 about 4.0
South East Region about 3.0 about 4.1
West Midlands about 2.3 about 3.8
* These figures are misleading because many people who move from Newcastle to Newburn remain on the lists of Newcastle doctors.
