HC Deb 04 August 1971 vol 822 cc348-9W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about the disposal of Her Majesty's Government's assets in the Gulf.

Mr. Godber

Her Majesty's Government propose that land and fixed assets no longer required by Her Majesty's Government and at present held for defence and civil aviation purposes in Bahrain and Sharjah, together with certain associated movable assets, shall be transferred to the appropriate Governments when the time comes without charge. Proposals to this effect, together with a number of related financial matters, have been put to the Governments concerned. Provision for these transfers of property will be made in Supplementary Estimates to be laid before the House in due course.
