HC Deb 04 August 1971 vol 822 c312W
Mr. Dormand

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will now make a statement concerning the estimated rate of growth of the total demand for fuel and the likely demand for coal.

Mr. Ridley

I have nothing to add to the reply I gave the hon. Member on 25th May.

Mr. Dormand

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what is the present level of coal stock; whether he is satisfied with the amount; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ridley

Coal stocks have recovered from the low levels of last winter. On 17th July they were 28.2 million tons, 1 million tons higher than a year ago.
