HC Deb 21 April 1971 vol 815 cc401-2W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Lord President of the Council (1) whether he will arrange during the forthcoming Recess for the closed-circuit television annunciators to be adjusted so that when a count is called a continuous whistle, or bell, is sounded for the full four minutes of a House of Commons count;

(2) whether he will arrange for the Clerks' Table in the House of Commons to have a fused light indicator which comes on and remains alight as soon as a Division is called, for this to be connected in series with the Division bells in the House, so that on any Division bell not sounding the fuse will extinguish the light, and thus prevent Divisions taking place when the House of Commons Division bells are not sounded in complete series.

Mr. Whitelaw

No. I am satisfied that the present arrangements are adequate.
