HC Deb 30 October 1970 vol 805 c230W
Mr. Walter Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he is taking to improve recruitment of doctors for general practice, with particular relation to the Derby area.

Mr. Alison

Initial practice allowances are available to encourage doctors to begin practising in areas such as Derby which are designated as under-doctored by the Medical Practices Committee. We shall continue, by financial and other means, to encourage the more efficient organisation of general practice and the building of modern premises, whether by local authorities in health centres or by doctors themselves.
