HC Deb 30 October 1970 vol 805 c210W
Mr. David Mitchell

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is satisfied that there is no risk to stock or crops in the vicinity from the dumping of 5,000 cubic yards of cyanide-poisoned earth at Headley in North Hampshire, and in particular that there is no risk of water contamination affecting either crops or livestock supplied from streams and wells in the vicinity; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Prior

I understand that the Hampshire County Council received expert advice from the Thames Conservancy that the material buried at Headley will not contaminate ground or surface water. The method of disposal was in accordance with the recommendation of the Committee on the Disposal of Solid Toxic Waste. There should, therefore, be no risk to stock or crops.
