HC Deb 29 October 1970 vol 805 c191W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether she will set up an inquiry into the causes of the dispute involving teachers and head teachers employed in the London Borough of Newham, with a view to resolving their problems and difficulties.

Mrs. Thatcher

I assume that the hon. Member is referred to difficulties associated with the Newham authority's proposals for the future of the Deanery High School and the Sarah Bonell School. I have today received from the authority a request that a deputation be received from it to discuss the matter. I am considering this, but at present I see no reason to hold a public inquiry.
