§ Lord BalnielMy right hon. Friend attended a very useful meeting with his European N.A.T.O. defence colleagues on 1st October. Among other things they agreed that it would be valuable if the European members of N.A.T.O. could expand their participation in the common defence effort. They agreed to consider how each country might best contribute.
