HC Deb 29 October 1970 vol 805 c206W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) if he is aware that when a case of cholera was disclosed in East Flintshire this summer supplies of vaccine were not available in the locality even for those seeking injections before North African holidays; what is being done to remedy this situation; and if he will make a statement;

(2) how much cholera vaccine is available in Wales; and if he is satisfied that it is sufficient to combat a serious outbreak, in view of modern mass travel abroad; and if he will make a statement;

(3) what information concerning the progress in the treatment and prevention of cholera is being made available to health authorities in Wales.

Mr. Gibson-Watt

I am not aware of any problem about the supply of cholera vaccine in East Flintshire or elsewhere in Wales. If the hon. Member will write to me about any case of difficulty I will make further inquiries.

All medical officers of health have been reminded of the essential points to be kept in wind in the treatment of cholera.
