§ Mr. Ian GilmourThe Regular British Army in the Far East at September, 1970, including Royal Marines and Gurkhas, totalled about 17,000. As the run-down proceeds this number will decrease progressively. Some 7,000 Regular soldiers and Royal Marines are at present serving in Northern Ireland.
