HC Deb 28 October 1970 vol 805 cc152-3W
Mr. Tinn

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will state the current waiting period for the issue of bone conductor type hearing aids at each of the centres in the Northern Region.

Mr. Alison

There is currently an acute shortage of bone conduction hearing aids and waiting periods throughout the United Kingdom, including the Northern Region, are unlikely to be less than 2 months and sometimes substantially longer. Production difficulties have not yet been finally overcome, but an additional source of supply which has been arranged should lead to an improvement.
