asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what improvements are proposed for the A21 road between Tonbridge bypass and Hastings.

The following improvements are proposed by the highway authorities responsible for A21 (a principal road)Flimwell Diversion—Work planned to start in 1972. Vinehall to Paygate—Being prepared for possible programming within the next 5 years. Northern connection of proposed Hastings spine road to A21 or widening parts of Sedlescombe Road North—Being prepared for possible programming within the next 5 years.

A feasibility study is in progress for extending the dual carriageway from the Tonbridge bypass to beyond Pembury.
