HC Deb 27 October 1970 vol 805 c105W
124. Mr. Maude

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether she will now make a statement on her proposal to set up a committee to inquire into the training of teachers.

Mrs. Thatcher

I am very glad to be able to announce that Lord James of Rusholme, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of York, has accepted my invitation to be Chairman of the Committee. I am now completing very full consultations with all the interested parties about the composition and terms of reference of the Inquiry. I shall be informing the House of my conclusions as soon as possible, with a view to the Committee starting their work early in the New Year.
